Vision
To foster a world in which individuals lead meaningful, resilient, and empathetic lives, inspired by Stoic principles, and positively contribute to their communities.
Mission
Our mission is to make the enduring wisdom of Stoicism accessible to modern life by nurturing a community of learners and practitioners who embrace the four cardinal virtues: wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance. We offer educational materials, practical techniques, and a supportive network for those dedicated to living by Stoic ideals, thereby encouraging personal growth, resilience, and constructive societal transformation.
Purpose
The purpose of the Christchurch Stoics is to disseminate and nurture the teachings of Stoicism, empowering individuals to cultivate wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance in their daily lives. Through the practice of these virtues, we aim to enhance personal well-being and contribute to our community’s development and flourishing by pursuing wisdom, empathy, and self-improvement.

I started Christchurch Stoics Meetup not long after I started studying Stoicism, as I want wanted to provide a point of contact in Christchurch for those who want to learn more about Stoicism and connect with other liked-minded people.
My focus is studying the works of Epictetus and actively putting the Stoic principles into practice. The primary result, so far, is increased resilience and the ability to control my emotions. The Enchiridion (Handbook) and Discourses of Epictetus outlines a system that is practical and relatively easy to learn. I am always keen and willing to share my knowledge with others.
